On April 9th, as part of the continuous effort to empower industry colleagues and exhibitors, the China Surface Engineering Association provided an online explanation during the "ProSF 2023 International Surface Engineering Exhibition and Surface Engineering Industry Annual Conference" on how to apply for the "China Surface Engineering Association Science and Technology Award" for the year 2023 and the 25th "China Patent Award" for 2023. Wang Xinhong from the China Surface Engineering Association introduced the application and recommendation process for these awards.
The Science and Technology Award, which is filed with the National Office for Science and Technology Awards (registration number 0284), is conducted in a fair, just, and open manner, targeting the entire field, the entire industrial chain, and all regions of the country. The award targets high-quality scientific and technological projects and scientists who have contributed to the industry's development. It provides a platform for rewarding, promoting, transferring, and cooperating on advanced scientific and technological projects in the industry. The awards for application include:

Surface Engineering Industry Soft Science and Standard Projects (including testing, scientific and technical books, etc.)

Science and Technology Contribution Award (individual award, not more than 20 people will be selected this year)
The projects for application must have been applied in whole for more than one year (completed before December 31, 2021), and projects that were applied for but not awarded in the year 2022 and before will not be accepted.
The China Patent Award includes Gold, Silver, and Excellence Awards for Chinese patents, as well as Gold, Silver, and Excellence Awards for Chinese design patents. The awards are granted to inventions, utility models, or design patents (including declassified national defense patents, excluding confidential patents) granted before December 31, 2021 (including December 31, based on the announcement date of authorization), as well as materials evaluating social benefits and development prospects.
The status of group standards in China's standard system, the benefits of formulating group standards, the process and existing problems in formulating association group standards, and the work and achievements made by the association in the construction of professional and technical personnel in surface engineering were also discussed. Group standards have the advantages of short cycles, high efficiency, and timely response to the needs of new technologies and new products; they are innovative, leading the development of industries and enterprises, enhancing market competitiveness, market-oriented, and more practical in content; they are autonomously formulated by the market, freely initiated, and voluntarily adopted by the market.
